My paintings are a dialogue between the canvas and my inner self. I strive to reach into the realms of my subconscious and capture from it snatches of memories, experiences, thoughts and emotions. I hope to translate in paint, a reflection of the landscape of my inner mind.
I am currently based in Singapore but grew up in India and have spent a big part of my life in the city of Mumbai.
After getting my fine arts degree from the College of Art, New Delhi, I started my career at Lowe, Mumbai. Much as I enjoyed those early years in advertising, the desire for complete creative freedom made me strike it out on my own. And it has been an interesting journey so far.
I have designed and painted on furniture; risked my neck, literally, as I climbed wobbly ladders to paint murals in kids’ rooms; trawled dusty old streets and dealt with questionable men in search of ideas and that perfect wood to paint on....
A wise man once said, “If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading”. Those are the words that guide me as I try and avoid the straight and narrow.
